Estes Park — 2 nights

More than just a convenient resting place for travelers on their way to the national park encompassing the Front Range of the Rockies, Estes Park is a popular place to visit in its own right.
Start off your visit on the 16th (Thu): explore the activities along Lily Lake and then hike along Lily Mountain Trail. On the 17th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the dramatic scenery at Alberta Falls, then contemplate the waterfront views at Bierstadt Lake, and then explore the activities along Sprague Lake.

To see reviews, maps, photos, and other tourist information, use the Estes Park day trip planner.

You've now added Eldorado Canyon State Park to your itinerary. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Mesa Trail and Lake Isabelle. Get outdoors at Flatirons and Anne U. White trail. Take a break from Boulder with a short trip to Brainard Lake Recreation Area in Ward, about 44 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: stroll through Sugarloaf Mountain, trek along Royal Arch, and take in the dramatic natural features at Settler's Park.
