A Hilton Head vacation may be heaven for a golfer, but the area also offers all kinds of other options for sports fans.

Eschew the tourist crowds and head to May River Excursions and Hilton Head Distillery. Get out of town with these interesting Hilton Head side-trips: James Island County Park (in James Island), Beaufort (John Mark Verdier House, Pat Conroy Literary Center, &more) and Tuskegee Airmen Memorial (in Walterboro). There's much more to do: indulge your senses at Carolina Tasting Room, shop like a local with Nash Gallery, stroll around Shelter Cove Community Park, and contemplate the long history of Mitchelville Freedom Park.
