Known internationally as the "Horse Capital of the World," Lexington boasts a thriving economy resting largely on its thoroughbred racehorse industry.

Shop till you drop at Tater Knob Pottery and Farm and Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Cane Ridge Meetinghouse and Berea Cemetery. Venture out of the city with trips to Berea Arts Council (in Berea) and Ark Encounter (in Williamstown). There's still lots to do: take in the exciting artwork at Damselfly Gallery.

Toronto, Canada to Lexington is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or drive. When traveling from Toronto in January, plan for somewhat warmer days in Lexington, with highs around 5°C, while nights are about the same with lows around -5°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Louisville.

Head to The Glendale Antique Mall and Revelry Boutique Galleryfor some retail therapy. Do some cultural sightseeing at Louisville Mega Cavern and Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. Step out of Louisville to go to Bardstown and see Bardstown Art Gallery, which is approximately 52 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: see the interesting displays at Kentucky Derby Museum, brush up on your knowledge of spirits at Kentucky Artisan Distillery, bet on a winner at Churchill Downs, and get a taste of the local shopping with 21c Museum Hotel.
