Known internationally as the "Horse Capital of the World," Lexington boasts a thriving economy resting largely on its thoroughbred racehorse industry.
Get a sense of the local culture at Ark Encounter and Equus Run Vineyard & Winery. Venture out of the city with trips to Woodford Reserve Distillery (in Versailles) and Frankfort (Buffalo Trace Distillery & Castle & Key Distillery). There's much more to do: try your luck at Keeneland, sample the fine beverages at James E. Pepper Distillery, and see the interesting displays at Kentucky Horse Park.
