Known internationally as the "Horse Capital of the World," Lexington boasts a thriving economy resting largely on its thoroughbred racehorse industry.
Step off the beaten path and head to Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site and Lexington Cemetery. Visiting Daniel Boone National Forest and Coolmore America - Ashford Stud will get you outdoors. Get out of town with these interesting Lexington side-trips: Wilderness Trail Distillery (in Danville), Berea (Student Crafts on the Square Gallery & Boone Trace Marker) and Four Roses Bourbon - Warehouse and Bottling Facility (in Coxs Creek). There's lots more to do: relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas, learn about winemaking at Equus Run Vineyard & Winery, brush up on your knowledge of spirits at Barrel House Distillery, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Legacy Trail.

Kentucky’s largest city, Louisville, is best known as the home of the Kentucky Derby.
On the 6th (Wed), contemplate the long history of Farmington Historic Home, wander the streets of West Main Historic District, and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Cathedral of the Assumption. On the 7th (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: steep yourself in history at Civil War Fort Duffield, make a trip to Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, and then admire the majestic nature at Charlestown State Park.
