Derby City

Kentucky’s largest city, Louisville, is best known as the home of the Kentucky Derby.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Louisville Mega Cavern and Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Louisville: Brown-Pusey House (in Elizabethtown), Nashville (Schooner Valley Stables & Holler Hoppin' Zip Lines) and Mammoth Cave National Park (Mammoth Cave & Fat Man's Misery). There's much more to do: examine the collection at Kentucky Derby Museum, snap pictures at The Big Four Bridge, steep yourself in history at Conrad-Caldwell House Museum (Conrad's Castle), and make a splash at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari.

To find more things to do, reviews, where to stay, and other tourist information, you can read our Louisville travel route planner.

In October, daily temperatures in Louisville can reach 71°F, while at night they dip to 50°F.
