The Big Easy
Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.Museum-lovers will appreciate Whitney Plantation and The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden at NOMA. Get some cultural insight at Garden District and Jackson Square. Venture out of the city with trips to Crosby Arboretum (in Picayune), Global Wildlife Center (in Folsom) and Nottoway Plantation (in White Castle). Spend the 1st (Thu) exploring nature at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. There's much more to do: brush up on your military savvy at The National WWII Museum, add some adventure to your tour with a kayaking and canoeing tour, get a taste of the local shopping with Jamie Hayes Gallery, and get to know the fascinating history of French Quarter.
