The Big Easy

Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Laura: Louisiana's Creole Heritage Site and Jamie Hayes Gallery will appeal to museum buffs. Oak Alley Plantation and Evergreen Plantation will appeal to history buffs. When in New Orleans, make a side trip to see Whitney Plantation in Wallace, approximately Wallace away. There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, admire the masterpieces at Ogden Museum of Southern Art, explore the wealth of natural beauty at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Immaculate Conception Church.
