A major transportation hub, Omaha was once considered little more than a stopping point on a pioneer's journey west.
Get out of town with these interesting Omaha side-trips: Cellar 426 Winery (in Ashland) and Lincoln (Sunken Gardens & Nebraska State Capitol). There's much more to do: get engrossed in the history at The Durham Museum, take in nature's colorful creations at Lauritzen Gardens Omaha's Botanical Center, catch a live performance at Henry Doorly Zoo, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Kanesville Tabernacle.
