Duck — 2 nights

Duck is a town in Dare County, North Carolina, United States. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Currituck Beach and Currituck Banks Reserve. Take a break from the city and head to Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education and Parasailing & Paragliding. Next up on the itinerary: wander the streets of Scarborough Lane Shoppes, admire all the interesting features of Beach Jeeps of Corolla, relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas, and cool off at H2OBX Waterpark.

Detroit to Duck is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus, train, and car. Plan for a bit warmer nights when traveling from Detroit in July since evenings lows in Duck dip to 73°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 25th (Mon) to allow enough time to drive to Manteo.

Manteo, Roanoke Island — 1 night

Manteo is a town in Dare County, North Carolina, United States, located on Roanoke Island. Start off your visit on the 26th (Tue): contemplate the long history of Island Farm, then visit a coastal fixture at Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse, then fly like a bird with a parasailing or paragliding tour, and finally brush up on your knowledge of spirits at Outer Banks Distilling.

Hatteras Island — 2 nights

On the 27th (Wed), don't miss a visit to Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Historic Site & Museum, then enjoy the sand and surf at Salvo Beach, and then take a leisurely stroll along Avon Fishing Pier. On the 28th (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: see what you can catch with Godspeed Charters, examine the collection at Hatteras Island Ocean Center, and then kick back and relax at Frisco Beach.
