Pigeon Forge — 5 nights

A tiny town with big tourist appeal, Pigeon Forge bills itself as the "Center of Fun in the Smokies." Just a short drive from the national park protecting the diverse plant and animal life of the Great Smoky Mountains, the town features numerous places to visit, such as bars, restaurants, cafes, theaters, and shops.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Little Greenbrier School and Noah Bud Ogle Cabin. You'll explore and learn at Titanic Museum Attraction and Fowler's Clay Works. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Pigeon Forge: Great Smoky Mountains National Park (Foothills Parkway Southwest Parking & Ramsey Cascades). There's still lots to do: look for gifts at Christmas Place, steep yourself in history at Walker Sisters' Cabin, take an unforgettable tour with a helicopter tour, and get in on the family fun at The Island in Pigeon Forge.

In December, plan for daily highs up to 53°F, and evening lows to 36°F.
