The Forest City

Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Marginal Way Walkway and Casco Bay. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Portland: Ogunquit (Ogunquit Beach & Perkins Cove). There's lots more to do: see what you can catch with a fishing tour, get in on the family fun at Funtown Splashtown USA, explore the world behind art at Portland Museum of Art, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Old Orchard Beach.

Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a Portland trip simple and quick.

Chattanooga to Portland is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and train. Traveling from Chattanooga in August, things will get slightly colder in Portland: highs are around 79°F and lows about 59°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
