With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Start off your visit on the 29th (Mon): enjoy the sand and surf at Flamenco Beach and then stroll through Playa Punta Soldado Beach. Here are some ideas for day two: tour the pleasant surroundings at Carlos Rosario Beach, then stop by Zinkowski Art Studio, then get lost in a book at Culebra Public Library, and finally kick back and relax at Zoni Beach.

Culebra is very close to San Juan. April in Culebra sees daily highs of 34°C and lows of 28°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Tue) early enough to travel to Isla de Vieques.

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Start off your visit on the 1st (Wed): admire the striking features of Puerto Ferro Lighthouse, take in the exciting artwork at Gallery Galleon, view the masterpieces at Siddhia Hutchinson Fine Art Gallery, then stop by Isla Vida, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at La Chiva. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: hunt for treasures at Fish Market and then identify plant and animal life at Vieques National Wildlife Refuge.
