For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Start off your visit on the 1st (Fri): take in the exciting artwork at Siddhia Hutchinson Fine Art Gallery, take some stellar pictures from Puerto Ferro Lighthouse, and then kick back and relax at Caracas Beach.

A seaside playground in the Caribbean, Rincon was a small agricultural and fishing town until it hosted the 1968 World Surfing Championship.
On the 2nd (Sat), visit a coastal fixture at El Faro Lighthouse, then view the masterpieces at Playa Oeste Gallery, then look for all kinds of wild species at Wildlife Areas, and finally kick back and relax at Crashboat Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 3rd (Sun): browse the eclectic array of goods at Rincon Art Walk, then stroll through Domes Beach, and then stroll through Sandy Beach.

Getting from Isla de Vieques to Rincon by flight takes about 4.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of ferry, shuttle, and car. Traveling from Isla de Vieques in March, Rincon is somewhat warmer at night with lows of 78°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Sun) so you can drive to Ponce.
