Scranton is the sixth-largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania behind Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Allentown, Erie and Reading. Get out of town with these interesting Scranton side-trips: Mount Airy Casino (in Mount Pocono), Knoebels Amusement Resort (in Elysburg) and Ricketts Glen State Park (in Benton). And it doesn't end there: examine the collection at The Electric City Trolley Station and Museum, brush up on your military savvy at Marine Corps League NE Detachment Museum, look for gifts at Noteology, and get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Electric City Aquarium & Reptile Den.

Newark to Scranton is an approximately 2-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of train and bus; or take a bus. Traveling from Newark in July, Scranton is a bit cooler at night with lows of 64°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 15th (Fri) so you can go by car to Bahama.

Bahama — 1 night

Bahama is an unincorporated community in northern Durham County, North Carolina.HistoryBahama was originally settled around 1750 as the community of Balltown until the name was changed to reflect three leading families of the community: ll, rris, and ngum. Kick off your visit on the 16th (Sat): examine the collection at Dukes of Hazzard museum and then steep yourself in history at Stagville Plantation. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 17th (Sun): do a tasting at Rock of Ages Winery.
