Known as the capital of country music, the thriving city of Nashville combines old-world southern charm with a progressive urban flair.
Kick off your visit on the 19th (Sat): hunt for treasures at Franklin Antique Mall and then take in the history at Lotz House Museum. Keep things going the next day: take an in-depth tour of Cooter’s Museum and Store Nashville, take in the history at Carnton, and then wander the streets of Downtown Franklin.

New Orleans to Nashville is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. A tiny town with big tourist appeal, Pigeon Forge bills itself as the "Center of Fun in the Smokies." Just a short drive from the national park protecting the diverse plant and animal life of the Great Smoky Mountains, the town features numerous places to visit, such as bars, restaurants, cafes, theaters, and shops.
Take a break from the city and head to Cherohala Skyway and Clingmans Dome. Get a sense of the local culture at Old Forge Distillery and Mill Bridge Winery. Take a break from Pigeon Forge with a short trip to Bush's Beans Visitor Center in Chestnut Hill, about 30 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: trek along Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, do a tasting at Sugarland Cellars, look for gifts at Smoky Mountain Knife Works, and brush up on your knowledge of spirits at Doc Collier Moonshine Distillery.
