Traverse City

— 3 nights

Cherry Capital of the World

Traverse City might be well known for its huge cherry industry, but its position along Grand Traverse Bay in Lake Michigan endows it with fine scenery and a wealth of outdoor attractions.
Get some cultural insight at Black Star Farms and Mari Vineyards. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Arcadia Bluffs Golf Club and Arcadia Overlook. Change things up with these side-trips from Traverse City: Blustone Vineyards (in Lake Leelanau), Leland (Whitecap Charters Fishing & Carlson's Fishery) and Thompsonville (Iron Fish Distillery & Michigan Legacy Art Park). There's still lots to do: learn about winemaking at Hawthorne Vineyards, immerse yourself in nature at Interlochen State Park, brush up on your knowledge of spirits at Northern Latitudes Distillery, and head outdoors with Inland Seas Education Association.
