One of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country, Tucson is a city on a cultural crossroads, with European, Native American, Mexican, and Asian residents blending and sometimes conflicting with one another.
Tucson is known for museums, nature, and historic sites. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: see the interesting displays at Pima Air and Space Museum, explore and take pictures at Mt. Lemmon Scenic Byway, take in breathtaking views at Madera Canyon, and shop like a local with Madaras Gallery.

Town Too Tough to Die

Founded in 1877 as a mining camp, Tombstone became one of the most storied towns of the "Wild West." As one of the last frontier boomtowns in the United States, Tombstone prospered between 1880 and 1890, attracting cattle rustlers and outlaws.
Start off your visit on the 14th (Sat): get engrossed in the history at O.K. Corral, get engrossed in the history at Tombstone's Historama, then view the masterpieces at Quarles Art Gallery, and finally Head underground at Kartchner Caverns State Park.

Drive from Tucson to Tombstone in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and taxi; or do a combination of train and taxi. Traveling from Tucson in August, expect Tombstone to be a bit cooler, temps between 87°F and 66°F. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 15th (Sun) to allow time for travel back home.
