Witch City
Best known for its 1692 witch trials, Salem has a number of significant historical sites, a bustling downtown, and many witch-themed attractions.Kick off your visit on the 22nd (Sat): stop by Crow Haven Corner, then admire the masterpieces at Peabody Essex Museum, then see the interesting displays at Salem Witch Museum, and finally see the interesting displays at Count Orlok's Nightmare Gallery. On the next day, take a leisurely stroll along Pickering Wharf, contemplate the long history of The House of the Seven Gables, then explore the different monuments and memorials at Old Burying Point Cemetery, and finally walk around Salem Witch Trials Memorial.

Boston to Salem is an approximately 1-hour car ride. You can also take a train; or take a bus. In April, daily temperatures in Salem can reach 15°C, while at night they dip to 3°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Sun) so you can go by car to Portland.

Maine's biggest and perhaps most vibrant city, Portland was established as a fishing village in 1633 and grew to become New England's largest port.Venture out of the city with trips to Nubble Lighthouse (in York) and Ogunquit (Marginal Way Walkway & Perkins Cove). There's much more to do: sample some tasty brews at a beer tour and tasting, explore the world behind art at Portland Museum of Art, sample the tasty concoctions at Allagash Brewing Company, and visit a coastal fixture at Portland Head Light.
