Durango — 2 nights

Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
Museum-lovers will appreciate Durango Fish Hatchery and Wildlife Museum and Toh-Atin Gallery. Do some cultural sightseeing at Ruins Road and Animas Museum. There's more to do: wander the wide-open spaces of James Ranch.
