Located just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., the county of Arlington blends big city and sprawling suburban environments.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Old Town and George Washington's Mount Vernon. Popular historic sites such as Arlington National Cemetery and The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier are in your itinerary. When in Arlington, make a side trip to see Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, approximately 32 minutes away. There's still lots to do: explore the landscape on two wheels at Mount Vernon Trail, appreciate the history behind U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, make a trip to John F. Kennedy Grave Site, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Stamford to Arlington is an approximately 3.5-hour combination of car and flight. You can also drive. Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Stamford in July: high temperatures in Arlington hover around 89°F and lows are around 73°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Williamsburg.
