Washington DC

— 5 nights
The capital of the United States, the District of Columbia contains the lion's share of the country's most treasured monuments, memorials, and public museums.
Get some cultural insight at National Air and Space Museum and Washington National Cathedral. Appreciate the collections at National Gallery of Art and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Washington DC: Skyline Drive (in Shenandoah National Park) and Gettysburg (Gettysburg National Military Park & Eisenhower National Historic Site). There's much more to do: stroll the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery, pause for some photo ops at Vietnam Veterans Memorial, get a new perspective on nature at Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, and see the interesting displays at The National Archives Museum.

For photos, ratings, where to stay, and more tourist information, read our Washington DC online holiday planner.

Expect a daytime high around 55°F in March, and nighttime lows around 37°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 4th (Mon) to allow time to travel back home.
