Furniture City

The second largest city in Michigan and a hub of furniture manufacturing, Grand Rapids bears the nickname "Furniture City." However, the destination's original name came from the rapids of the Grand River that once ran through the downtown area.
Change things up with these side-trips from Grand Rapids: Holland (Ninth Street Christian Reformed Church, Windmill Island Gardens, &more), Muskegon (Hackley and Hume Historic Site, Pere Marquette Park, &more) and Grand Haven (Grand Haven State Park, Grand Haven Lighthouse and Pier, &more). There's much more to do: see the interesting displays at Gerald R. Ford Museum, admire the natural beauty at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, pause for some photo ops at Leonardo da Vinci's Horse, and do a tasting at Robinette's Apple Haus & Winery.

To see reviews, photos, other places to visit, and more tourist information, use the Grand Rapids day trip planning app.
