Founded in 1835, the city of Aiken was named after William Aiken, the president of the South Carolina Railroad. Venture out of the city with trips to Musgrove Mill State Historic (in Clinton), Laurens Historic District (in Laurens) and lake Warren State Park (in Hampton).
