Bangor — 58 nights

Bangor is a city along the Penobscot River in the U.S. state of Maine. Step off the beaten path and head to Marshall Point Lighthouse Museum and Mount Hope Garden Cemetery. Cole Land Transportation Museum and the rock & art shop are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Bangor side-trips: Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum (in Alna), Augusta (Children's Discovery Museum, Maine State Museum, &more) and Catherine Hill Winery (in Cherryfield). There's much more to do: have fun and explore at Maine Discovery Museum, wander the streets of High Street Historic District, trek along Bangor City Forest, and examine the collection at Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum.

Atlanta to Bangor is an approximately 22.5-hour car ride. You can also fly; or drive; or do a combination of bus and train. Prepare for cooler weather when traveling from Atlanta in April: high temperatures in Bangor hover around 52°F and lows are around 31°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 13th (Mon) to allow enough time to travel back home.
