Fort Lauderdale — 59 nights

Known as the "Venice of America" because of its extensive network of navigable waterways, Fort Lauderdale welcomes over 10 million annual visitors, most of them attracted by the city's popular beaches and marinas.
Visit Lincoln Road and Art Deco Historic District for their historical value. Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and Ocean Drive are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with these side-trips from Fort Lauderdale: Miccosukee Indian Village (in Tamiami), Miami Beach (Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church, The Wolfsonian - Florida International University, &more) and Everglades National Park (Shark Valley Visitor Center, Buttonwood Canal, &more). Spend the 15th (Sun) exploring nature at Everglades National Park. And it doesn't end there: get engrossed in the history at Stranahan House, see the interesting displays at International Swimming Hall of Fame, explore the activities along Intracoastal Waterway, and discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour.

To see ratings, reviews, where to stay, and tourist information, go to the Fort Lauderdale journey planning site.

In May in Fort Lauderdale, expect temperatures between 86°F during the day and 74°F at night.
