Grand Rapids — 57 nights

Furniture City

The second largest city in Michigan and a hub of furniture manufacturing, Grand Rapids bears the nickname "Furniture City." However, the destination's original name came from the rapids of the Grand River that once ran through the downtown area.
Grand Rapids Symphony has been added to your itinerary. Venture out of the city with trips to Mount Pleasant (Pohlcat Golf Course & Soaring Eagle Casino), Gilmore Car Museum (in Hickory Corners) and Bell's Comstock Brewery (in Galesburg). There's still lots to do: take in nature's colorful creations at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, examine the collection at Gerald R. Ford Museum, get to know the resident critters at John Ball Zoo, and explore the world behind art at Grand Rapids Art Museum.

Detroit to Grand Rapids is an approximately 2.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 76°F in September, and nighttime lows around 54°F. You will leave for Grand Rapids on the 28th (Thu).
