Lake George

— 59 nights

Queen of the American Lakes

A playground for America’s wealthy families, Lake George was nicknamed "Queen of the American Lakes." While these families often stayed in private country houses, a tourism industry built up around them in the early 20th century facilitated by two YMCAs.
Change things up with these side-trips from Lake George: Lake Placid (Mount Jo, Lake Placid, &more), North Adams (Appalachian Trail & MASS MoCA) and The Clark Art Institute (in Williamstown). Spend the 31st (Sat) surrounded by wildlife at The Wild Center. Next up on the itinerary: get engrossed in the history at Fort William Henry Museum, learn about winemaking at Adirondack Winery, find something for the whole family at Magic Forest, and try your luck at Saratoga Race Course.

For other places to visit, maps, reviews, and more tourist information, refer to the Lake George trip itinerary maker.

In July, plan for daily highs up to 82°F, and evening lows to 60°F.
