Louisville — 59 nights

Derby City

Kentucky’s largest city, Louisville, is best known as the home of the Kentucky Derby.
Step off the beaten path and head to Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo and Kentucky Kingdom. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Louisville Mega Cavern and Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. Venture out of the city with trips to Cave City (Dinosaur World, Onyx Cave, &more), Mammoth Cave National Park (Mammoth Cave, Tall Man's Misery, &more) and Munfordville (The Woodson House & Battle for the Bridge Historic Preserve, Hart County Historical Museum, &more). There's still lots to do: walk around Louisville Waterfront Park, examine the collection at Conrad-Caldwell House Museum (Conrad's Castle), stroll the grounds of Cave Hill Cemetery, and admire the masterpieces at The Speed Art Museum.

For ratings, where to stay, photos, and more tourist information, use the Louisville road trip website.

In August, daily temperatures in Louisville can reach 86°F, while at night they dip to 68°F.
