Louisville

— 59 nights

Derby City

Kentucky’s largest city, Louisville, is best known as the home of the Kentucky Derby.
Kids will enjoy Louisville Mega Cavern and Cave Hill Cemetery. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Muhammad Ali Center and Ghost & Vampire Tours. Change things up with these side-trips from Louisville: Bowling Green (National Corvette Museum, NCM Motorsports Park, &more), Cave City (Dinosaur World, Onyx Cave, &more) and Horse Cave (Hidden River Cave and American Cave Museum, Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo, &more). There's still lots to do: make a splash at Kentucky Kingdom, stroll around Cherokee Park, examine the collection at Frazier History Museum, and steep yourself in history at Conrad-Caldwell House Museum (Conrad's Castle).

For other places to visit, photos, ratings, and other tourist information, go to the Louisville travel planner.

In September, plan for daily highs up to 82°F, and evening lows to 61°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Sat) to allow time to travel back home.
