Omaha — 59 nights

Gateway to the West
A major transportation hub, Omaha was once considered little more than a stopping point on a pioneer's journey west.Bring the kids along to Henry Doorly Zoo and Lauritzen Gardens Omaha's Botanical Center. Appreciate the collections at The Durham Museum and Museum of American Speed. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Omaha: Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center (in Denton), Beatrice (Gage County Historical Society and Museum & Homestead National Historical Park) and Missouri Valley (Desoto National Wildlife Refuge & Wilson Island State Park). Spend the 14th (Fri) exploring nature at Rock Creek Station State Historical Park. There's still lots to do: take in the views from Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, admire the majestic nature at Ponca State Park, grab your bike and head to Chalco Hills Recreation Area, and explore the world behind art at Joslyn Art Museum.
For maps, traveler tips, reviews, and more tourist information, go to the Omaha holiday planning app.
Expect a daytime high around 74°F in May, and nighttime lows around 52°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Sat) so you can travel back home.
