Lake George

Queen of the American Lakes

A playground for America’s wealthy families, Lake George was nicknamed "Queen of the American Lakes." While these families often stayed in private country houses, a tourism industry built up around them in the early 20th century facilitated by two YMCAs.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Boat Tours & Water Sports and The Fort William Henry Museum & Restoration. There's much more to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Lake George, find something for the whole family at Magic Forest, enjoy the sand and surf at Million Dollar Beach, and look for gifts at Wax 'n' Wix.

To see maps, photos, where to stay, and other tourist information, read Lake George tour itinerary planner.
