Home to nearly half of Alaska's population, the port city of Anchorage covers a staggering area of over 4,900 sq km (1,900 sq mi) surrounded by mountains.
Anchorage is known for wildlife, historic sites, and nature. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: examine the collection at Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, tour the old-fashioned way with a train tour, contemplate the long history of Alaska Native Heritage Center, and identify plant and animal life at Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.

Orlando to Anchorage is an approximately 12-hour flight. You can also drive. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Alaska Standard Time (AKST), which is usually a -4 hour difference. Juneau is an unusual state capital in many respects.
Start off your visit on the 24th (Wed): explore the striking landscape at Mendenhall Glacier, take in the dramatic natural features at Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center, and then admire the sheer force of Nugget Falls. Fly from Anchorage to Juneau in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and ferry. In May in Juneau, expect temperatures between 60°F during the day and 42°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 25th (Thu) so you can travel to Ketchikan.

Ketchikan — 2 nights

Salmon Capital of the World

The narrow city of Ketchikan clings to the bluffs that form Revillagigedo Island's southwestern shore.
On the 26th (Fri), examine the collection at Dolly's House Museum, get to know the fascinating history of Creek Street, steep yourself in history at Totem Heritage Center, then whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, and finally immerse yourself in nature at Totem Bight State Historical Park.
