Sitka — 2 nights

The City and Borough of Sitka, formerly Novo-Arkhangelsk, or New Archangel under Russian rule, is a unified city-borough located on Baranof Island and the southern half of Chichagof Island in the Alexander Archipelago of the Pacific Ocean (part of the Alaska Panhandle), in the U.S. state of Alaska. On the 20th (Mon), see Off-Road Tours and then see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour. Keep things going the next day: look for all kinds of wild species at Alaska Raptor Center, examine the collection at Sheldon Jackson Museum, then admire the landmark architecture of Russian Bishop's House, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Cathedral.

Ketchikan — 4 nights

The narrow city of Ketchikan clings to the bluffs that form Revillagigedo Island's southwestern shore.
Escape the urban bustle at Fishing Charters & Tours and Totem Bight State Historical Park. Do some cultural sightseeing at Tongass Historical Museum and Creek Street. There's still lots to do: whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks, stroll through Deer Mountain Trail, get all the information you need at Southeast Alaska Discovery Center, and contemplate the long history of Saxman Native Village.
