An old logging town at the crux of the high desert and ponderosa pine forest, Bend melds a love of the outdoors with cosmopolitan flair.
Venture out of the city with trips to Peter Skene Ogden State Park (in Terrebonne) and Smith Rock State Park (in Redmond). The adventure continues: see the interesting displays at High Desert Museum, take in the dramatic scenery at Tumalo Falls, fly down the slopes at Mt. Bachelor Ski Area, and walk around Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint.
