Newark to Big Sur is an approximately 11.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Pacific Standard Time (PST), which is usually a -3 hour difference. In April, plan for daily highs up to 64°F, and evening lows to 48°F. Massive granite mountains, towering waterfalls, groves of Giant Sequoia trees, and wilderness as far as the eye can see distinguish the landscape of Yosemite National Park.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Sun): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Yosemite Valley Chapel, make a trip to Yosemite Village, then identify plant and animal life at Nature Center at Happy Isles, then take in the dramatic scenery at Vernal Fall, and finally hike along Nevada Falls Loop. Keep things going the next day: take in the dramatic scenery at Yosemite Falls, take some stellar pictures from Valley View, then trek along Four Mile Trail, and finally get great views at Washburn Point.

Traveling by car from Big Sur to Yosemite National Park takes 5.5 hours. When traveling from Big Sur in April, plan for slightly colder days in Yosemite National Park, with highs around 59°F, while nights are much colder with lows around 28°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Tue) so you can travel to South Lake Tahoe.

South Lake Tahoe

High in the Sierra Nevada mountains on the shore of one of America’s most scenic lakes, South Lake Tahoe captures the spirit of the outdoors and serves as a hub for tourism activities surrounding the lake.
Take a break from the city and head to Adventure Mountain and Echo Lakes Hiking Trail. Discover out-of-the-way places like Angora Lakes Climb and Glen Alpine Falls.
