Borough of Trees

Though it may be less popular or touristy than its big brother Manhattan, Brooklyn boasts of one of the largest and hippest art districts in the United States.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Williamsburg Smorgasburg and Mast Brothers. Step out of the city life by going to Sands Point Preserve and Empire Fulton Ferry State Park. Change things up with these side-trips from Brooklyn: Nassau County Museum of Art (in Roslyn), Old Bethpage Village Restoration (in Old Bethpage) and American Airpower Museum (in Farmingdale). There's lots more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Brooklyn Tabernacle, take in nature's colorful creations at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, contemplate the long history of Alice Austen House Museum & Garden, and stop by Park Slope.
