Denver — 1 night

Mile-High City

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Kick off your visit on the 28th (Sun): contemplate the long history of Denver Union Station and then wander the streets of 16th Street Mall. On the next day, take in nature's colorful creations at Denver Botanic Gardens, then get to know the resident critters at Denver Zoo, and then look and learn at Denver Museum of Nature & Science.

New York City to Denver is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. The time zone difference moving from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Mountain Standard Time (MST) is minus 2 hours. Traveling from New York City in May, Denver is a bit cooler at night with lows of 43°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 29th (Mon) to allow time to drive to Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs — 2 nights

Stunning Garden of the Gods Park scenery, blue skies and the glory of Pikes Peak-America’s Mountain have attracted visitors to Colorado Springs for more than a century.
Kick off your visit on the 30th (Tue): deepen your understanding at United States Air Force Academy, then cruise along Pikes Peak - America's Mountain, and then walk around Garden of the Gods. On the 31st (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: sample some tasty brews at Rocky Mountain Food Tours, then get to know the resident critters at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and then see the sights as you ascend with a climbing tour.

Getting from Denver to Colorado Springs by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus; or do a combination of train and flight. Glenwood Springs — 2 nights

Glenwood Springs occupies a scenic location at the junction of the Colorado River and the Roaring Fork River, halfway between Vail and Aspen along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.
On the 2nd (Fri), relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour, take in the exciting artwork at Art on 8th, and then boost your wellbeing at a local thermal spa. On the next day, explore the activities along Hanging Lake and then trek along Hanging Lake Trail.

Traveling by car from Buena Vista to Glenwood Springs takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and bus. When traveling from Buena Vista in June, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Glenwood Springs: temperatures range from 66°F by day to 46°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Sat) early enough to fly back home.
