Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Mon): see the sky in a new way at Denver Museum of Nature & Science and then wander the streets of 16th Street Mall. On the 4th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: steep yourself in history at Union Station, then pause for some serene contemplation at St. John's Cathedral, then admire the masterpieces at Denver Art Museum, and finally get a taste of the local shopping with Pearl Street Mall.

Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
On the 7th (Fri), look for gifts at Honeyville, let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour, and then see the interesting displays at Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum.
