Founded in 1859 as part of the Gold Rush in the Rockies, Breckenridge boasts a main street lined with colorful wooden storefronts housing cafes and shops, giving the effect of a thriving western town from the 19th century.
On the 1st (Sun), glide through natural beauty at Sally Barber Mine Trail, contemplate the long history of High Line Railroad Park, stop by The Cheese Shop of Breckenridge, then hit the slopes at Blue River Sports, and finally take a stroll around Riverwalk Center.

Getting from Colorado Springs to Breckenridge by car takes about 3 hours. Other options: drive; or fly; or take a bus. When traveling from Colorado Springs in November, plan for colder days in Breckenridge, with highs around 34°F, while nights are little chillier with lows around 22°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 2nd (Mon) early enough to go by car to Aspen.

Rocky Mountain High

Known as a ski resort town, Aspen's history goes back to its roots as a silver-mining village tucked away in an isolated valley of the Rocky Mountains.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Maroon Lake Scenic Trail and Aspen Highlands. Get in touch with nature at Rio Grande Trail and Aspen Carriage and Sleigh Day Tours. Step out of Aspen to go to Glenwood Springs and see Linwood Cemetery, which is approximately 1h 10 min away. There's still lots to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness Area and shop like a local with Gene Taylor Sports.

Drive from Breckenridge to Aspen in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. When traveling from Breckenridge in November, plan for a bit warmer days in Aspen, with highs around 47°F, while nights are about the same with lows around 20°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 4th (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
