Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.
Kick off your visit on the 25th (Thu): kick back and relax at Fort Zachary Taylor, brush up on your military savvy at U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Ingham Maritime Museum, contemplate the long history of Truman Little White House, then stroll the grounds of Key West Cemetery, and finally cruise along The Overseas Highway. On the 26th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: go for a walk through Key West Garden Club, observe the fascinating underwater world at Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center, get engrossed in the history at Key West Lighthouse and Keeper's Quarters Museum, then see the interesting displays at The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, and finally identify plant and animal life at Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory.

Marathon

Heart of the Florida Keys

A tiny city just 16 km (10 mi) long, Marathon is spread across several islands in the middle of the Florida Keys.
Get outdoors at Dolphin Research Center and Bahia Honda State Park. Explore hidden gems such as Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center and Crane Point Museum & Nature Center. Change things up with a short trip to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo (about 1h 10 min away). There's more to do: look for all kinds of wild species at The Turtle Hospital and discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour.

Drive from Key West to Marathon in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In February, plan for daily highs up to 79°F, and evening lows to 68°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 1st (Mon) early enough to go by car to St. Augustine.

Here are some ideas for day two: deepen your understanding at Flagler College, then make a trip to St. George Street, and then stroll through St. Augustine Beach.

Traveling by car from Marathon to St. Augustine takes 7.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of shuttle and flight; or take a bus. Plan for little chillier temperatures traveling from Marathon in March, with highs in St. Augustine at 71°F and lows at 54°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Wed) to allow time to travel back home.
