Mile-High City

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Kick off your visit on the 11th (Thu): indulge your senses at some of the top wineries in the area, see the interesting displays at Denver Firefighters Museum, and then browse the exhibits of The International Church of Cannabis. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 12th (Fri): see the interesting displays at Forney Museum of Transportation, examine the collection at Mines Museum of Earth Science, then get engrossed in the history at Golden History Museum & Park, and finally fly like a bird with a parasailing or paragliding tour.

Originally built as a base for Vail Ski Resort, the town of Vail has blossomed into its own destination, but still has less than 6,000 permanent residents.
Kick off your visit on the 13th (Sat): tee off at EagleVail Golf Club, see the interesting displays at Walking Mountains Science Center, and then examine the collection at Colorado Snowsports Museum and Hall of Fame. Here are some ideas for day two: stroll through Vail Recreation Path, then trek along Ten Mile Canyon National Recreation Trail, and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Shrine Mountain Trail.
