Mile-High City

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Shop till you drop at American Museum of Western Art and The Source. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey Tour and Cherry Creek Trail. Get out of town with these interesting Denver side-trips: Evergreen (Alderfer/Three Sisters Park & Evergreen Lake) and Roxborough State Park (in Littleton). And it doesn't end there: learn about winemaking at Balistreri Vineyards, identify plant and animal life at Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, contemplate the long history of Center for Colorado Women's History at the Byers-Evans House, and examine the collection at Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art.
