Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Bring the kids along to Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak - America's Mountain. Get out of town with these interesting Denver side-trips: Estes Park (Earthwood Artisans & The Studio Fine Art and Framing), River Rafting & Tubing (in Idaho Springs) and Colorado Springs (U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum & Cheyenne Mountain Zoo).
