Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
Your day by day itinerary now includes San Juan Skyway, Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum and Mesa Verde Tours. Explore Durango's surroundings by going to Pagosa Springs (Bath House (Hot Springs) @ The Springs Resort & Spa, Piedra River Trail, &more) and Mesa Verde National Park (Balcony House & Cliff Palace). There's still lots to do: take a peaceful walk through San Juan National Forest and don't miss a visit to Historic Downtown Durango.
