Estes Park — 3 nights

More than just a convenient resting place for travelers on their way to the national park encompassing the Front Range of the Rockies, Estes Park is a popular place to visit in its own right.
Explore Estes Park's surroundings by going to Boulder (Pearl Street Mall & Flatirons) and Rocky Mountain National Park (Trail Ridge Road & Chasm Falls). There's still lots to do: surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour, take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback, cruise along Peak to Peak Scenic Byway, and relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas.

Originally a frontier mining town, Durango is known today for its scenic setting, outdoor activities, and the 1880s steam-powered railway that takes visitors through sections of the mountains where roads don't reach.
On the 28th (Wed), take in the exciting artwork at Scenic Aperture Gallery and then kick your exploration up a notch at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks. Traveling by car from Silverton to Durango takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a shuttle; or take a train. When traveling from Silverton in June, plan for a bit warmer days and little chillier nights in Durango: temperatures range from 85°F by day to 44°F at night. You will leave for home on the 30th (Fri).
