Furniture City

The second largest city in Michigan and a hub of furniture manufacturing, Grand Rapids bears the nickname "Furniture City." However, the destination's original name came from the rapids of the Grand River that once ran through the downtown area.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Blandford Nature Center and Kalamazoo Nature Center. Meyer May House and Heritage Hill Historic District will appeal to history buffs. When in Grand Rapids, make a side trip to see St. Julian Winery in Paw Paw, approximately Paw Paw away. The adventure continues: do a tasting at Robinette's Apple Haus & Winery, try to win big at Gun Lake Casino, walk around Millennium Park, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cathedral of Saint Andrew.

South Bend to Grand Rapids is an approximately 2-hour car ride. You can also take a bus; or take a train. In November, plan for daily highs up to 48°F, and evening lows to 33°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Mon) so you can drive to Indianapolis.

Indiana's capital and most populous city, Indianapolis is best known for its racecar events and impressive museums, and as the hometown of Kurt Vonnegut.
Visit Crown Hill Cemetery and Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site for their historical value. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Holliday Park and The Miller House and Garden. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Indianapolis: Bear Wallow Distillery (in Nashville), Urban Vines Winery & Brewery Co. (in Westfield) and Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge (in Seymour).
