Haines — 3 nights

Sitting on the shores of Alaska's longest fjord and surrounded by mountains, the port city of Haines boasts spectacular scenery.
Take a break from the city and head to Dolphin & Whale Watching and The Kroschel Wildlife Center. Get some cultural insight at Hammer Museum and American Bald Eagle Foundation. There's more to do: surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour.

Charlotte to Haines is an approximately 16.5-hour combination of flight and ferry. You can also drive. The time zone difference when traveling from Charlotte to Haines is minus 4 hours. The Municipality and Borough of Skagway is a first-class borough in Alaska on the Alaska Panhandle. Step out of the city life by going to Nature & Wildlife Tours and Glacier Point Wilderness Safari. Do some cultural sightseeing at Red Onion Saloon Brothel Museum and State Street and Broadway Street. The adventure continues: relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour, stroll the grounds of Gold Rush Cemetery, get engrossed in the history at Skagway Museum and Archives, and take in nature's colorful creations at Jewell Gardens.

Traveling by ferry from Haines to Skagway takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly. In September in Skagway, expect temperatures between 58°F during the day and 48°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Sat) so you can travel back home.
