Separated by water from the neighboring city of Miami, Miami Beach sits on a barrier island between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

You'll find plenty of places to visit near Miami Beach: Fort Lauderdale Beach (in Fort Lauderdale) and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden (in Coral Gables). Houston to Miami Beach is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time to Eastern Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Houston in March: high temperatures in Miami Beach hover around 81°F and lows are around 65°F.
