Crown of the Continent

The glaciers from which Glacier National Park takes its name mostly dissipated eons ago, but they left behind a scoured landscape of high and steep mountain peaks, sparkling lakes, lush alpine meadows, and thick forests.
Kick off your visit on the 1st (Sat): admire all the interesting features of Going-to-the-Sun Road and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Iceberg Lake Trail. Here are some ideas for day two: trek along Grinnell Glacier.

Houston to Glacier National Park is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and car. Billings — 1 night

Billings is the largest city in the state of Montana, and is the principal city of the Billings Metropolitan Area with a population of 166,855.Billings is located in the south-eastern portion of the state and is the seat of Yellowstone County, which had a 2015 population of 157,048. Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Mon): contemplate the long history of Moss Mansion, then see exotic creatures in open habitats at Globe Trekkers Tours, and then trot along with a tour on horseback.

Gardiner — 2 nights

Gardiner serves as the gateway to Yellowstone National Park's northern entrance, marked by an iconic stone arch.
On the 4th (Tue), get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour, explore the activities along Yellowstone River, and then trot along with a tour on horseback. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: cast your line with a fishing tour, identify plant and animal life at Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center, and then get in on the family fun at Yellowstone Big Gun Fun.

Big Sky — 2 nights

Big Sky is a census-designated place (CDP) in Gallatin and Madison counties in southwestern Montana. Start off your visit on the 6th (Thu): stroll through Ousel Falls Trail, don't miss a visit to Big Sky Chapel, and then take an exotic tour of Yellowstone Adventure Tours. Keep things going the next day: explore the different monuments and memorials at The Soldiers Chapel, then trot along with a tour on horseback, and then take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports.
